Submitting Articles and Notices
We welcome reports from local non-profit organizations, obituaries, expressions of appreciation, and special notices. These are published free of charge.
How to Submit
Submission Deadlines
The deadline for all submissions is 5 pm on the 19th of each month (except December, when the deadline is one week earlier). As our production schedule is very tight, this is a firm deadline and late submissions will not be accepted.
Email Your Submission
Send all reports, announcements, and calendar listings to our Production Manager at production@penderpost.org.
Paste text and photos into body of email or attach MS Word (.doc) or text (.txt) file to message.
Formatting Guidelines
- Don’t use all uppercase letters, bold, or italics.
- No acronyms or abbreviations.
- Time Format: 1 pm (not 1:00 pm, 1:00 p.m., or 1:00 P.M.).
- Author’s name must be included at the end of the article.
- Limit use of exclamation points to one or two per report.
Submitting Photos
Include photos of the people, places or events in your report.
- We prefer photos (in PDF, JPG, PNG, or PSD format) to be attached to an email message, but they can be included in the body of the message if necessary.
- Submit colour photos as they will also be published in our online edition.
- Minimum resolution: 200 dpi for quality printing.
- Include a caption and photo credit with each image.
For large files: If your photo exceeds email size limits, contact production@penderpost.org to arrange an alternative submission method.
Calendar Listings
Community event listings are free for:
- Non-commercial events
- Fundraising events hosted by registered Pender Island non-profits
How to Submit:
- Include event title, date, and time.
- If you are also submitting a report, place your calendar entry at the top for easy reference.
Editorial Policy
- All submissions may be edited for clarity, length, spelling, and grammar.
- The Pender Post does not endorse opinions expressed in submitted articles. Views are those of the authors and do not reflect the stance of the Editor, Editorial Board, or the Pender Post Society’s Board of Directors.
Privacy & Personal Information Policy
- Submissions must comply with BC’s Personal Information Protection Act.
- Any advertising or content containing personal information must have the explicit consent of the individuals mentioned.
- The Pender Post does not share or distribute subscriber information with any group or organization.
- We reserve the right to decline any content deemed potentially harmful to an individual or group.
